On the night of Thursday, November 9, 1989, the Berlin Wall finally came down, ending 40 years of tension in Berlin, Germany, and hastening the final collapse of communism in Europe.

Twenty years on, the world looks at this as a pivotal moment in history, when democracy prevailed over tyranny, when the power of the people ruled over evil, and a nation began the long road to reunification. The night when a simple blunder by an official from the hated regime opened the floodgates faster than anyone could think…on live television.
